Our Mission

Freedomromp is a vibrant community building group dedicated to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and promoting civic engagement. Our mission revolves around empowering individuals with educational resources on civics and organizing events that inspire fun, friendships, and active participation in community affairs.
We embrace the spirit of otters, our mascot, as we engage our members in fun, meaningful activities, all while upholding democratic values and protecting freedom.

As someone who worked entirely in public service during my career, I've always believed that individuals can make a difference. But so often we feel alone, uncertain how to move forward. When one individual finds another and those two find more, the strength of community is formed. In early 2025, I found fellow activists, reformers, travelers who needed the bonds of community. Armed only with hope and friendship, we set out to build a ROMP.
We took that term from Otters, creatures known for supporting each other in groups. While navigating rough waters, they protect each other, hold hands, look out for one another. That's what we at FREEDOMROMP seek to do; we want to build a strong community filled with laughter, committed to one another and to the principles on which nation and our culture. We believe in the freedoms of the Constitution of the United States and know that without them the guarantee of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is meaningless. FREEDOMROP seeks to to provide a community of love and hope while ensuring our freedoms remain strong and protected.

I've always taken pride in being a helper. This desire to help led me to years of service as a 911 dispatcher, a U.S. Navy Corpsman, and a Victims Advocate for survivors of serious crimes. Each role reinforced my commitment to protecting people in their most vulnerable moments. I believe firmly that we are called to create a community that makes human vulnerability a strength.
I joined my fellow Rompers to build a community where individuals find support and hope as we fight for democratic ideals. Our movement is pro-democracy because we believe deeply in our country, our Constitution, and our responsibility to uphold them. FREEDOMROMP is a group intended to give members and others the tools to learn, grow, and demand change so that people come first. Defending people, protecting our planet, promoting freedom take constant vigilance, and FREEDOMROMP gives people a community in which to feel less alone in that work. As a corpsman, I vowed to defend the Constitution; now as a civilian I continue that promise to defend our country and communities. When we all understand that individuals matter, communities make us strong, and together we make change, it will happen.

Friendship fostered through activism led me to become a founding member of FREEDOMROMP. Romps believe that democracy is not self-sustaining. Democracy requires informed, engaged people who work hard and continuously to defend freedom, protect our right to speech, and always lead with compassion. At a time when division and fear are amplified, I am committed to helping create a space that centers truth, empathy, and respect for human dignity.
Love is not a weakness in civic life, but a strength. Love for our neighbors, our communities, and our shared future is what allows democracy to endure. By being a part of creating this site and this group, I hope to contribute to a culture that encourages thoughtful dialogue, mutual understanding, and active participation in shaping a more just and humane world.
